  Are Gateway's deposits guaranteed?

Yes, Gateway's deposits are guaranteed under the Government's Financial Claims Scheme.

  How do I deposit funds to my Gateway accounts?
  • Gateway Bank Direct Debit: You can complete one of our Direct Debit forms and we will debit your account at any financial institution on your behalf.  A Direct Debit can be established for once off transfers or regular ongoing deposits.
  • Payroll Credit:  Gateway Bank accepts direct credit from any employer, for a regular payroll deduction to Gateway contact your pay supplier.  All you need to use is our BSB 676-000, your Account number and your Account Name.
  • Gateway Bank Branch:  You can deposit cash and cheques at our branch in person or Mail cheques to our mailing address.
  • International Money Transfer:  When transferring funds to us from a bank outside of Australia, use BSB 676-000 and your account number, your membership number as the reference and your full name. Gateway's IMT Swift Code is ASLLAU2CGTW.
  • Use your Visa Debit Card to make a deposit at any Australia Post outlet displaying the Bank@Post sign.  Fees & Charges may apply.
  • Commonwealth Bank Branch: You are able to deposit funds via any Commonwealth Bank Branch in Australia using an encoded deposit book provided by Gateway, to obtain a deposit book call us on 1300 302 474 or contact us online.
  • Via internet banking: You can transfer funds into your account from other financial institutions via internet banking using our BSB 676-000, your Account number and your Account Name.
  What is Bank@Post?

Bank@Post is provided by Australia Post.  It enables you to be able to make withdrawals, deposits and/or pay your credit card bills over the counter at any Australia Post outlet displaying the Bank@Post sign.  Fees & Charges may apply.

  How can I withdraw funds from my Gateway accounts?

You can withdraw funds from your Everyday Savings Account or 100% Loan Offset Account using a Gateway Visa Debit Card at ATMs thoughout Australia, and worldwide at ATMs displaying the Visa logo, you can also withdraw funds via EFTPOS at participating stores.

You may also transfer funds using Online Banking, Direct Debit or Telephone Banking. We can also send a cheque on request.

  Does Gateway offer BPAY®?

BPAY is available through Online Banking and Telephone Banking.

  When can I use phone banking?

Telephone Banking is available 24/7 by calling 1300 302 474.

  How can I register for Telephone Banking?

Call us on 1300 302 474.

  What if I need to make an early withdrawal from my Term Deposit account?

You will need to provide a written request with 7 days notice. 

Gateway then may agree to repay part or all of your deposit before the term has ended.  If so, interest will be paid on the amount you withdraw at a reduced rate from the date of deposit to the day prior to withdrawal. 

The applicable interest rate will be the rate at the time of lodgment less a penalty of 2.00% p.a.  Other Terms and Conditions apply.

  If I transfer funds to another institution via Online Banking or Telephone Banking, when will it be received?

Funds should be available the next business day but may take up to 2 business days depending on the time funds were transferred.

  What is a SWIFT Code or Bank Identifier Code (BIC)?

A SWIFT (or BIC) is the unique identification code of a particular bank. SWIFT codes are used when transferring money between banks for Telegraphic Transfers. Bank Identifier Codes (BIC) are commonly known as SWIFT codes.

  What is a merchant?

A merchant is a business whom you purchase goods and/or services from.

  What is ATM Direct Charging?

ATM direct charging means that if you use another bank's ATM, you could be charged directly by that bank. The ATM operator will advise if a fee will be charged for your transaction. You may consider cancelling your transaction and finding an alternative if you wish to avoid the fee. There are a wide network of ATMs in Australia which can be accessed fee-free.

  What is the daily cash withdrawal limit?

The daily cash withdrawal limit is set at $1,000 per day.

  What is the daily limit on my Visa Debit Card?

The daily limit is $1,000, however, if you use the credit (CR) option the limit is the funds available in your account.

  Can the daily withdrawal limits be changed?

Gateway will consider a temporary or permanent increase or decrease to the daily cash withdrawal limit upon your request.  Call us on 1300 302 474.

  What do I do if a merchant places a booking hold on my funds when I have paid for the goods or service by another means?

You will have to contact the merchant, you may need to provide proof of purchase before the hold is removed.

  Where can I shop with Verified by Visa?

You can use your Gateway Visa Debit Card for all online purchases, however for safer online shopping; we suggest you look for the Verified by Visa symbol at online stores. 

  What is Visa payWave?

Visa payWave is the latest in contactless, secure transaction technology that allows you to make instant lower value purchases without entering a PIN.

You just need to ‘wave and go’ by holding your Gateway Visa Debit Card against any available Visa payWave reader for instant purchases under $100.

NB – daily payWave transaction limits will apply and you may need to enter your PIN once this limit has been exhausted.


  I have direct debits and payments loaded against my existing Visa Debit Card, will these automatically change to the new card?

You will need to contact the payee (e.g. fitness club, utility provider, financial institution) and advise them of your new Gateway Visa Debit Card number and expiry date.

If you do not change your payment arrangements to your new Gateway Visa Debit Card, they may be declined. If you require assistance changing your payments, please contact Gateway on 1300 302 474
