Gateway’s CEO, Paul Thomas, is currently on annual leave. In his absence, this week’s guest blogger is Lisa Montomery. Lisa is a respected leader, commentator and consumer advocate within the Australian financial services industry. In 2004, Lisa joined Resi Mortgage Corporation as Head of Consumer Advocacy and was elevated to CEO in 2010. Prior to her role at Resi, Lisa was Head of Consumer Information and Advocacy for Wizard Home Loans. Lisa is a nationally recognised consumer advocate who provides regular commentary for news.com.au, national radio and television.

We all have strengths and weaknesses. One of my faults is a lack of patience when it comes to waiting in line. If you want to really punish me, ask me to stand idly in a queue. I find waiting to be served dead boring - minutes seem like hours.

As a society, we are quick to criticise but slow to praise and seem to delight in finding fault with others.

Climate change

Yes, it’s counter-intuitive and yes it provides ammunition to global warming sceptics. But as difficult as it is for some people to believe, colder weather is compatible with a warmer climate as they are not the same thing. Weather is what we experience day-to-day whereas climate represents the long-term averages of daily weather.
