Direct Debit FAQs

A direct debit is a regular automatic payment set up on your eligible Gateway account using your BSB and account number. It is a contract between the account holder and a merchant/company which allows them to take money out of your account.

A regular payment from a debit card or credit card is called a recurring payment. This is where you give your debit card details (card number, expiry date and security code) to a merchant or supplier to allow them to charge your credit card regularly to pay for the services they provide you. You will need to contact the merchant or service provider to cancel these payments.

If you ask us to cancel or stop a direct debit on your eligible Gateway account, we will promptly process your request. You can call us on 1300 302 474 to speak with one of our friendly team members, who will be able to assist you over the phone. You will still need to get in touch with the merchant or service provider if you still owe them money as it doesn’t cancel your contract with them.
